Polydria

Polydria

Where geometry folds into grace
Polydria

Polydria is a symphony of precision and poise — a dress sculpted from intersecting planes and folded shadows. Inspired by the elegance of origami and the strength of architectural form, its angular surfaces refract light like faceted stone, while the asymmetric neckline softens the silhouette into movement.

Structured yet fluid, the garment balances tension and harmony, transforming rigid geometry into wearable elegance.

With each step, it shifts like a prism — never still, always composed.

Overall Concept

Polydria is a couture exploration of geometry as movement. The garment is constructed from intersecting planes and folded surfaces, translating origami logic and architectural faceting into a wearable, elegant form.

Rather than relying on drape, the dress is built through structure: each surface is a controlled plane, each fold a deliberate line. Light interacts with the angular geometry like with faceted stone, creating a constantly shifting play of highlights and shadows as the wearer moves.

Polydria transforms rigid geometry into poised, fluid elegance.

Silhouette

Asymmetrical one-shoulder bodice

Fitted, architectural torso

Defined waist with structured, faceted peplum-like extension

A-line / mid-calf length skirt built from geometric panels

Overall silhouette: structured, precise, but visually fluid through movement

Balance of sharp geometry and soft feminine proportion

Construction
Internal structured corset foundation supporting the bodice geometry
Outer shell constructed from

Precisely cut geometric panels

Each panel folded, pressed, and top-structured to hold sharp edges

Bodice built as a faceted shell over the corset base

Shoulder architecture reinforced internally to maintain sculptural form

Skirt constructed from multiple geometric panels forming a controlled A-line volume

Peplum / hip structure integrated into bodice-panel system

Hidden side or back zipper

Fully lined

Internal waist stay and strategic boning for shape control

All seam lines are part of the visible geometric design language

Fabric & Material Behavior Requirements
  • Must hold crisp folds and edges
  • Must not collapse or wrinkle easily
  • Must support sculptural, angular construction
  • Must behave more like “soft architecture” than fluid textile
Wearability & Ergonomics
  • Corset distributes weight and stabilizes bodice geometry
  • Skirt allows normal walking and sitting
  • Designed for elegant, controlled movement
  • Comfortable for extended wear despite structural appearance
  • Fully wearable, not only display
Feasibility
Designed as a fully real-world feasible haute couture garment
Requires
  • Advanced couture pattern engineering
  • Precise geometric cutting and assembly
  • Extensive fitting and structural testing
  • High-level pressing and finishing techniques
  • Production time: high-complexity couture piece
Positioning
  • Haute couture day-to-evening architectural dress
  • Gallery / exhibition-level design object
  • Couture collection structural anchor piece
  • Highly wearable statement garment
